LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The Pacific Lutheran University women's tennis team played its second dual match in as many days on Monday, falling 9-0 to Colby College.
Â
The Lutes' (2-8)
Kristi Floyd and
Michelle Batin dug deep at No. 2 doubles before coming up just shy, falling 8-6 to the Mules' (1-2) tandem of Katharine Dougherty and Lindsey Hernandez while
Kylie Rademacher and
Lauren Kearney were edged 8-6 at No. 3.
Â
In singles, Floyd fell, 6-1, 6-3, at No. 3 while
Hannah Jeffries and
Bayley Gochanour suffered identical, 6-1, 6-1, setbacks playing at the No. 1 and No. 2 spots.Â
Â
"The scores don't reflect how well the women battled today," said Head Coach
Cheri Campbell. "Bayley lasted the longest, playing for over two hours in a, 6-1, 6-1, loss. Kristi and Michelle really played aggressive doubles, competing the best I've ever seen them play. Although an exhibition set,
Emma Lund craftily controlled her opponent and almost pulled out a win."Â
Â
The Lutes are back in action tomorrow afternoon, facing Whittier College at 5 p.m. but not before taking in some of the sights down in southern California.Â
Â
"We're ready to put down the rackets for the afternoon and enjoy some team bonding at Disneyland!"
