TACOMA, Wash. - Kylie Rademacher was the star of the show on Saturday but her efforts weren't enough as the Pacific Lutheran University women's tennis team fell 7-2 to George Fox in the Northwest Conference opener at the Sprinker Recreation Center.
"I'm so proud of how the team played and the progress they've made," said Head Coach
Cheri Campbell. "We were in every match, one or two points and the results would have been in our favor. Kylie came up big again with a win in doubles and singles. Bailey was only a few points away from going into a third set."
Rademacher and
Lauren Kearney prevailed 8-6 at No. 3 doubles for the Lutes' (2-3, 0-1 NWC) victory in doubles action. Bailey Gochanour and
Hannah Jeffries proved a stiff test for the Bruins' (3-5, 1-0 NWC) No. 1 tandem before coming up short, 8-5.
In singles, Rademacher continued to roll, etching out a, 6-4, 7-6 (7-4), win at No. 4. Kearney hung tough in a, 7-6 (7-4), 6-1, setback at No. 6 while Gochanour fell, 6-1, 7-5, at No. 2.
"We're ready to take some momentum into tomorrow's match against Lewis & Clark."
Pacific Lutheran is back on the courts tomorrow morning, hosting Lewis & Clark College at 10:30 a.m.
