Floyd Shines in Setback to Yotes

TACOMA, Wash. - Kristi Floyd won both her doubles and singles matches but it wasn't enough to stave off College of Idaho with the visiting Coyotes prevailing 6-3 in a non-conference tilt at the Sprinker Recreation Center.

Floyd and Michelle Batin edged out an 8-7 win at No. 2 doubles while Lauren Kearney and Kylie Rademacher rolled to an 8-2 decision at the No. 3 position.

In singles, Floyd gritted out a, 6-1, 2-6, 10-6, win at No. 2 for what proved to be the Lutes' (2-11) lone singles win of the day.

Rademacher pushed the Yotes' (3-7) Natalie Little to three sets before falling, 3-6, 6-2, 10-8, at No. 3 while Taylor Stokes suffered a similar fate at No. 5, falling, 4-6, 6-2, 10-8, at No. 5. Batin was edged, 7-5, 6-4, at No. 4 while Emma Lund was upended, 6-4, 6-4, at No. 6.

"It was another tough loss today," said Head Coach Cheri Campbell. "We came out strong, winning two doubles matches but then only pulled out one singles match by Kristi with her best match of the season. We were missing two key players which forced everyone to move two of three spots up in the lineup. Kylie and Taylor battled in their singles matches, losing in third set tiebreakers."

The Lutes return to the court tomorrow at 11 a.m., facing Northwest Conference rival Pacific University for the squad's third match in as many days.
