SANTA CRUZ, Calif. – The Pacific Lutheran University men's soccer team evened its record at 3-3 as it closed non-conference action with a dominating 4-0 victory against Chapman University.
"It was a great response by the guys today to a tough loss on Friday," said PLU Head Coach
John Yorke.  "We played a very complete game today, by far our best play of the season so far.  It was a very good last game before conference play."

Freshman
Zak Gregg provided the fireworks in the first half.  Gregg scored his team-leading fifth and six goals of the year in the first 45 minutes to lead the Lutes back in the locker room with a 2-0 advantage.
Ryan Griffith provided his third assist of the year on Gregg's second score.

In the second half, it was
Jackson Moore's turn to beat the Panther keeper on a pair of occasions. Moore added the third goal of the match just 1:56 into the second half on a blast from 20 yards out on the right side. He struck again 23 minutes later when he stole a pass and popped the ball in the net from eight yards away.

The PLU defense was also outstanding on Sunday morning in California.
Cole Weaver pitched a shutout in the net after saving four shots. The Lutes have recorded shutouts in all three victories this season.

On the day, the Lutes outshot the Panthers 15-9 and held a slim 7-4 edge in shots on goal.  Gregg and Moore combined for 11 of the team's 15 shots.

With the win, PLU wraps up non-conference play with a .500 record.  The Lutes will begin Northwest Conference action on Saturday when they host George Fox University at 2:30 p.m.
