TACOMA, Wash. – Pacific Lutheran University sophomore men's soccer player
Keeton Heggerness recorded his first career hat trick to lead the Lutes to a dominating 5-0 win over George Fox University at East Field.
Coming off the bench, Heggerness scored the first three goals for the PLU attack on Saturday. The sophomore struck for the first time on a header from
Zachary Manao in the 29
thminute. Four minutes later it was
Emmanuel Saah who did the assisting as Heggerness gave the Lutes a 2-0 advantage they would take into halftime. In the first frame, the ball rarely left the Lutes' offensive end as the Bruins were held without a shot.
The second half got out to a quick start, when Heggerness was fouled inside the box and was awarded a penalty kick, which he easily beat the George Fox keeper just 1:19 into the second 45 minutes. The Lutes were held in check until the 78
thminute, when
Derek Stone banged home a strike from
Archie Caldwell.
Duvan Vaca-Trujillo put the finishing touches on George Fox in the 84
thminute for his first goal of the year.
PLU dominated the ball all game and held an astounding 22-2 advantage in shots and a 10-0 edge in shots on goal. PLU keeper
Cole Weaver didn't even have to make a save to earn the shutout victory.
The Lutes will be back in action tomorrow when they take on Pacific University at 2:30 p.m.
