TACOMA, Wash. - The Pacific Lutheran University women's tennis squad was unable to keep pace with in-state rival Whitworth University on Saturday, falling 9-0 at the Sprinker Recreation Center.

"The team battled today against a deep Whitworth lineup," said Head Coach
Cheri Campbell. "We finally have our full team with the dual-sport athletes back but have only had one practice with everyone together. We had great points today and will continue to address execution this week."

In doubles,
Kylie Rademacher and
Lauren Kearney made their season debuts, providing stiff resistance against the Pirates (2-4) before ultimately falling 8-4 at the No. 3 position.

In singles,
Sydney Cameron came up short, 6-4, 6-2, at No. 1 while
Bayley Gochanour fell by a, 6-2, 6-4, scoreline at No. 2. Kearney proved to be a tough out at No. 5, coming up just short, 6-4, 6-4.

The Lutes (3-3) are back on the courts next Saturday, hosting Otterbein University in a non-conference match at the Sprinker Rec Center.
