The Northwest Conference has a lot of competition, but
Janson Pederson enjoyed the challenge.
Â
A member of the baseball team, Pederson is grateful for the chance to play alongside his teammates who encouraged him both on and off the field. Pederson will always remember spending time with his teammates on long road trips, and being together on the field.
Â
Pederson believes athletics has strengthened his time management, reminded him the importance of accountability, and increased his perseverance.Â
Â
"I am prepared to use these after graduation and exercise them in a different manner," Pederson said.
Â
On the mound, the righthander made 30 appearances, primarily as a reliever. Pederson racked up 32 strikeouts and a 2-1 record, logging 51 2/3 innings on the hill. The Port Angeles, Washington native was on pace for his best season yet in 2020 with six strikeouts, just one walk with a 3.86 earned run average in seven innings of relief work. Pederson's time on the squad was the Lutes win 80 career games, including 51 in NWC play while making three trips to the NWC Tournament and winning the conference regular season crown in 2018.
Â
"Janson has been great contributor on the mound throughout his time at PLU," said Head Coach
Nolan Soete. "He's one of the most mature student-athletes I have ever coached. He completed his undergraduate degree at PLU after just two years and will finish his graduate degree this spring. Janson has demonstrated success as a reliable bullpen arm and spot starter over the years and he worked hard to consistently improve in each of his four seasons. He was having a very good senior season, finishing third on the team in ERA. Janson was a great teammate and pleasure to coach."
Â
Pederson will be graduating with a master's degree in Business administration, and plans to utilize his MBA to obtain a career in business operations or marketing.
