TACOMA, Wash. – The Pacific Lutheran women's soccer team played stifling defense Sunday, defeating Willamette 2-0 at East Field in Northwest Conference action.
The Lutes (16-2 overall, 12-2-0 NWC) allowed just one shot on goal and it came with just 10 minutes left in the game as they outshot the Bearcats 20-3.

Ashlee Gormley scored her third goal of the season after receiving a perfect pass from
Alyssa Jordan in the 28
th minute. Jordan received the ball at the top of the box, waited for the defense to collapse and then sent it left to a wide open Gormley who slotted it home.
Joelle Buck scored her first goal of her career to double the lead in the 52
nd minute, heading home a curling corner kick from
Ellie Reardon at the back post.
The victory keeps the Lutes in the hunt for a NWC title and an automatic berth to the national tournament. PLU trails Puget Sound by two points with two games to play. The two teams play at 4 p.m. Wednesday at East Field in a decisive matchup.

Shaylin Cesar earned the win in goal for the Lutes, making the one save.
