Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Tough Loss Ends Women's Soccer Season

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The Pacific Lutheran women's soccer season came to an end Saturday with a 1-0 loss to Pomona-Pitzer Colleges in the first round of the NCAA Division III National Tournament.

Taylor Venenciano scored in the 32nd minute for the game's lone goal, scoring off a rebound by Ciannah Correa.

The Lutes (18-3 overall) advanced to their fourth national tournament in the last five years after wrapping up their fifth consecutive Northwest Conference title last week with a win against George Fox.  The 18 victories on the season, mark the most under Head Coach and Lute alum Seth Spidahl, and the five consecutive NWC titles also mark a new best in the storied history of PLU women's soccer.

On Saturday at Trinity University, the Lutes were outshot 21-5 including 10-1 on goal.

Vera Panescu-Reich recorded the lone shot on goal for the Lutes. Shaylin Cesar made nine saves in goal.

Alyssa Leong, Ashlee Gormley and Julia Causbie added a shot each.
