MCMINNVILLE, Ore. - The Pacific Lutheran University men's swimming team won four events and set four personal records on Friday evening but it wasn't enough against Northwest Conference rival Linfield University with the Wildcats earning the 131.5-69.5 dual meet victory.
"Tonight's meet was so great. Our squad swam great and showed real competitive toughness. The men had four PRs on the night and competed very well against a very good Linfield squad," said Head Coach
Matt Sellman.
Seth Koivisto set the tone for the Lutes, winning three events. The senior tied for the win in the 50-yard freestyle in 22.45 seconds before owning a four-second gap over the field in the 100-yard backstroke after touching the wall in personal best time of 56.11. Koivisto closed the day by joining forces with
Carson Braddock,
Devin Stanley, and
Charlie Cutter to win the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:29.44.
Stanley won the 200-yard individual medley, touching the wall in a personal record time of 2:06.48.
Braddock was runner-up in the 100-yard freestyle in 50.34 with Cutter placing third (51.39).
Luke Farag clocked a personal best time in the 200-yard freestyle, placing third in 1:57.88 while
Christiaan Chandler netted a PR in the 100-yard backstroke to finish third (1:01.16).
"This team has responded to getting back to 'normal' so well and they are a ton of fun. I love this group."
The Lutes are back in the pool tomorrow, facing Lewis & Clark College at 11 a.m.
