TACOMA, Wash. – The Pacific Lutheran University women's basketball team led by as many as 18 points in the second half, but a huge final 15 minutes by University of Puget Sound allowed the Loggers to leave Olson Gym with a 93-86 victory.
The Lutes (3-6, 3-6 NWC) led by seven after the first 20 minutes and scored the first 10 points of the second half to take a 51-34 advantage with 8:17 left in the third quarter. The Lute lead would reach a game-high 18 on a three-pointer by
Hailey Marsh with 4:58 remaining in the third. From there though, the Loggers would catch fire and outscore the Lutes 51-26 over the final 15 minutes.
For the game, the Lutes were excellent in sharing the basketball assisting on 23 of their 30 made field goals. Seniors
Emma Janousek,
Megan Drake and
Madison Salisbury led the way for PLU on Senior Night. Salisbury poured in 19 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for a double-double, while Drake scored 18 and Janousek tallied 14 points, seven assists and four steals. Fellow seniors
Jorie Lambert and
Hailey Marsh produced seven and five points, respectively.
Next weekend, PLU will hit the road to take on Whitman College on Friday and Saturday night. Both games will start at 5:30 p.m.
