MCMINNVILLE, Ore. – The Pacific Lutheran University men's tennis team ran into a tough Linfield University squad on Saturday, falling 8-1 to the Wildcats at the Linfield Tennis Center.

Michael Campbell and
Marcus Lee picked up PLU's only point at the No. 1 doubles position.  The duo defeated Cameron Ventura and Michael Manion by an 8-6 margin to improve their record to 4-2 on the season.

In singles, Campbell gave Gilbert Fuentes all he could handle at the top spot in the order.  Campbell won the first set 6-0 before dropping the second 7-5 and losing in tiebreakers 10-7.  Playing at the No. 3 position,
Marcus Lee also pushed Ventura to three sets before falling in tiebreakers.  Lee dropped the first set 6-2 before storming back with a 6-4 win in the second.  Unfortunately, the rally came up short 10-8 in the final set.

At the No. 5 spot,
Branson Near nearly pushed his opponent to three sets as well, but dropped the second set by a 7-6 score.

PLU returns home next weekend and will host Whitworth University at Sprinker Recreation Center for a 2:00 p.m. start.
