TACOMA, Wash. - The Northwest Conference office released the postseason award winners for softball on Tuesday with seven Pacific Lutheran University student-athletes being recognized, including
Casey Wright securing NWC Freshman of the Year.
Cailey Collado and
Erin McGrath earned First Team All-NWC recognition,
Kennedy Robillard,
Mari Foster, and Wright landed Second Team laurels while
Anna Foster and
Chaella Galapon secured honorable mention recognition.
Collado lands First Team honors at second base. The Huntington Beach, California native started in 34 games for the Lutes, boasting a .333 batting average. The sophomore scored a team-high 31 runs while registering 11 RBIs and six extra base hits.
McGrath tallies First Team accolades as an at-large selection. The junior outfielder started all 36 games this season for the Lutes, leading the team in batting average (.389), runs scored (31), hits (44), doubles (13), and home runs (11). The Woodinville, Washington native was flawless in the field, recording 40 putouts, three assists, and no errors.
Robillard earns Second Team honors as a pitcher, earning All-NWC recognition for the second time in her career. The Puyallup, Washington native was a First Team selection and the NWC Freshman of the Year in 2018. This season, Robillard led the Lute pitching staff in wins (seven), appearances (20), complete games (eight), innings pitched (91 1/3), and strikeouts (71). Robillard additionally proved to be a weapon at the plate, blasting four extra base hits and driving in 16 runs.
Mari Foster lands Second Team All-NWC at the designated player position. Foster started in 28 of the 29 games she played this spring, hitting .330 at the plate with 15 extra base hits, 11 RBIs, and 25 runs scored. The Honolulu, Hawaii native proved to be savvy on the base paths, leading the team with 10 stolen bases. Foster was an Honorable Mention selection in 2019.
Wright secures Second Team All-NWC as an at-large selection while becoming the second Lute in the past four seasons to win NWC Freshman of the Year. The Federal Way, Washington native led the team in RBIs with 34 while finishing second on the team in batting average (.370) and putouts (132). The catcher blasted 15 extra base hits, including six home runs while scoring 21 runs while playing in 33 games.
Notching Honorable Mention was
Anna Foster at first base and Galapon at shortstop. Foster hit .297 for the Lutes in 28 games, leading the team with 139 putouts and a near-perfect .993 fielding percentage. Galapon, an Honorable Mention pick back in 2019, hit .342 in 24 games with nine extra base hits and six RBIs.
The Lutes wrapped up the spring with a 15-21 record and a 12-16 mark in league play.
