Men's swimming falls in dual meet opener

RESULTS

SPOKANE, Wash. – Tyler Tanaka picked up his first two collegiate victories Friday, leading the Pacific Lutheran men's swimming team in a dual meet against Whitworth in Northwest Conference action.

The Pirates came out on top in the team race, defeating the Lutes 144-49.

Tanaka, a freshman from Hawaii, won the 400-yard individual medley in 4 minutes, 20.55 seconds and the 100 breaststroke in 1:01.61.

Tanaka also anchored the 200 free relay to a second-place finish in 1:30.76. He was joined on that relay by Charlie Cutter, Devin Stanley and Ben Thompson.

Stanley finished second in the 200 free in 1:51.32, while Na'inoa Loo was second in the 100 breaststroke in 1:04.14.

The Lutes (0-1, 0-1) are back in action at 11 a.m. Saturday at Whitman College in Walla Walla.
