TACOMA, Wash. - The Pacific Lutheran University women's tennis team was firing on all cylinders on Friday evening, smashing Community Colleges of Spokane 9-0 at the Sprinker Rec Center.
"The Lutes came to play tonight after working hard all week. I'm proud of how they competed and supported one another," said Head Coach

In doubles play,
Taylor Stokes and
Ella Burriss overwhelmed the Bigfoot's No. 1 tandem of Ava Rawley and Madison Forbes by an 8-3 scoreline.
Meggie Burnett and
Tianna Jeffries earned the 8-5 win at No. 2 while
Jillian Chong and
Lilian Nguyen were flawless in an 8-0 victory at No. 3.
In singles, Stokes prevailed, 6-1, 1-6, 1-0 (10-8) at the top spot while Chong breezed to a, 6-0, 6-1, win at No. 2 singles. Burriss walked off with a, 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 3 while Burnett was victorious, 6-3, 6-0, at No. 4. Nguyen won, 6-3, 6-2, at No. 5 with
Libertad Sarmiento winning, 6-1, 6-0, at No. 6.
"Lilian stepped up tonight and the coaching staff could see how the hard work in practice paid off in her match tonight."
The Lutes (2-6) open Northwest Conference play next weekend, traveling to Portland on March 6 to face Lewis & Clark College.Â
