TACOMA, Wash. - The Pacific Lutheran University men's tennis team dominated singles play but was unable to collect the season sweep of crosstown rival University of Puget Sound, falling 5-4 on Saturday in a Northwest Conference dual match at the Sprinker Recreation Center.
Michael Campbell earned a, 7-5, 6-3, win at No. 1 singles while Hampus Pers Elliasson disposed of Trent Beckman, 6-1, 6-1, at the No. 2 position.
Derek Stone was victorious, 6-0, 6-2, at No. 3 singles while
Alex Richter claimed a, 6-4, 6-1, win at No. 5 singles.
Those four wins weren't enough to negate a sluggish performance in doubles action that saw the Loggers (2-3, 2-2 NWC) sweep all three matches to earn the match win.Â
Saturday's match was the second time this season the intracity rivals have met with the Lutes (3-5, 1-4 NWC) downing the Loggers 6-3 back on Feb. 12.
The Lutes are back in action next Saturday, heading to Salem, Oregon to face Willamette University.Â
