SALEM, Ore. – The Pacific Lutheran University men's tennis team has won two out of its last three matches with today's victory over Willamette University, 9-0. It was the second 9-0 win of the season for the Lutes, who beat the Community Colleges of Spokane by the same score earlier this season.
It was a dominant effort in doubles for PLU (4-5, 2-4 NWC).
Michael Campbell and
Hampus Pers Eliasson scored an 8-2 win at No. 1, while
Alex Richter and
Drew Kraft earned a win at No. 3 by the same score.
Derek Stone and
Caleb Grass won a tiebreaker, 8-6, to earn an 8-7 win at No. 2.
In singles action, Campbell yielded just one game in a 6-0, 6-1 win, while Richter yielded just two in a 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 5. Pers Eliasson won 6-4, 6-1 at No. 2 and Stone won in straight sets 6-2, 6-3 at No. 3. Grass scored a 6-2, 6-4 victory at No. 4, while
Samuel Kwon won the first set at No. 6 before his opponent retired.
The Lutes will take on Pacific University tomorrow at 11:00 a.m. in Forest Grove.
