Nine Lutes Recognized by NWC

HILLSBORO, Ore.- The Northwest Conference doled out its postseason award winners for the sport of softball on Tuesday with nine Pacific Lutheran University student-athletes securing All-NWC accolades.
 
Erin McGrath and Mari Foster headline the award winners, both securing First Team All-Conference accolades. Cassidy Conrad, Casey Wright, Sarah Potwin, Brooke Tilson, Molly House, and Emma Ware earn Second Team All-NWC while Chaella Galapon landed Honorable Mention All-NWC.
 
McGrath earns First Team honors as an outfielder for the second straight season. The Woodinville, Washington native leads the NWC and ranks second nationally in home runs (15) and RBIs (57). A three-time NWC Hitter of the Week, McGrath hit .387 at the plate and led the conference in slugging percentage (.831), total bases (118), runs (50), and OPS (1.285). 
 
Foster joins McGrath as a First Team pick, landing the honor as an at-large selection. A Second Team All-League selection in 2021, Foster led the Lutes at the plate with a .397 batting average and 60 hits. The Honolulu, Hawaii native had 20 extra base hits on the season and 25 RBIs, while stealing a team-high 14 bases. 
 
Conrad secures Second Team All-NWC as a pitcher. Conrad pitched a team-high 116 innings during the season, owning a 12-3 record with 62 punchouts. The Monroe, Washington tossed 11 complete games and handed Linfield University two of its three losses during the NWC regular season.
 
Wright lands Second Team All-Conference as a catcher. Wright hit .343 at the plate with 34 RBIs and 36 runs scored. The Federal Way, Washington native had 17 extra base hits and behind the plate had 125 putouts.
 
Potwin earns Second Team honors at first base. The Rochester, Washington native hit .337 at the plate with 33 RBIs and 14 runs scored. Potwin had nine extra base hits, while leading the team with 170 putouts. 
 
Tilson nets Second Team All-NWC as a shortstop. The Woodinville, Washington native boasted a .307 average at the plate with 18 RBIs and 21 runs scored. 
 
House secures Second Team All-Conference as a designated player. The Seattle, Washington native hit .315 on the season with 17 RBIs and six extra base hits.
 
Ware is the Lutes' six player on the Second Team, earning a spot as a utility player. The North Plains, Oregon native hit .452 at the plate with nine RBIs while also pitching 41 innings, sporting a 6-2 record with three saves. 
 
Galapon earns Honorable Mention All-NWC for the second consecutive year. The Federal Way, Washington native hit .294 on the season with 19 RBIs and 23 runs scored. 
 
The Lutes (30-14) closed out NWC play with a 20-8 record before advancing to the finals of the NWC Tournament. PLU's 30 wins is the program's best since winning the 2012 national title.
