NEWBERG, Ore. — The Pacific Lutheran University women's swimming team notched its fourth dual meet win of the young season on Saturday afternoon, exiting the Chehalem Parks and Recreation Aquatic Center with a 108-96 victory over Northwest Conference rival George Fox University. PLU won seven of the 11 events contested to remain perfect in NWC dual meet competition.

Emma Gassman edged out the Bruin's Laurel Knox by one-hundredth of a second to win the 200-yard freestyle, touching the wall in two minutes, 2.48 seconds for the win. Gassman would later win the 100-yard backstroke in 1:02.20 with teammates Jessica Lee (1:08.58), and Sarah Yew (1:11.60) placing second and third, respectively.

Riley Maher won the 400-yard individual medley in convincing fashion, clocking a time of 5:02.52 and enjoying a seven-second gap on the rest of the competition.

The Lutes (4-1, 3-0 NWC) swept the top four spots in the 100-yard butterfly with Annika Eisele taking top billing in 1:02.27. Maher was second in 1:02.79 with Sidney Chan-Orcutt (1:04.14) and Melissa Zuniga (1:08.09) taking the next two spots.

Makenzie Chan-Orcutt took the win in the 100-yard breaststroke, winning the event by a razor-thin three-hundredths of a second in 1:09.19 while Jessica Ordaz won the 100-yard freestyle in 54.58.

The Lutes capped off the meet in style, with Jersey Razzano, Eisele, Maher, and Ordaz winning the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:44.17.

"This week's dual meet against George Fox was an absolute dog fight," said Head Coach Andrew Lum

"The Bruins came out swinging hard from the get go, but the Lutes took all that they had and delivered! We gutted out some close touch-out finishes, and really persevered as a team when we found ourselves in the thick of it. We're very pleased and proud of the way the team worked together through adversity against a quality George Fox program! We look forward to competing with them, Willamette, and Pacific in a couple of weeks at the Bruin Invite."

Razzano took second place in the 1,650-yard freestyle (19:48.35), Makenzie Chan-Orcutt was second in the 50-yard freestyle (25.94) while the Lutes were runner-up in the 200-yard medley relay (1:55.93).

PLU is back in the pool on Dec. 2 for day one of the Bruin Invitational.
