Men's Swimming Chase Fisk

Tanaka and Loo Lead Lutes to 113-71 Victory over Lewis & Clark

TACOMA, Wash. --- The Pacific Lutheran University Men's Swimming team repeated their performance from last night, once again winning nine of 11 events on their way to defeating the Lewis & Clark Pioneers 113-71. The Lutes move to 2-0 to start the season after strong performances by Tyler Tanaka, Na'inoa Loo, Dylan Dang, and Devin Stanley.
 
The Lutes won the first two events of the day, the 400-yard medley relay, and the 1000-yard freestyle. Hoskoo Amgalan, Na'inoa Loo, Dylan Dang, and Devin Stanley lead the relay with a time of 3:44:05 and winning by a ten-second margin.
 
Tanaka lead the Lutes once again in the 1000-yard freestyle with a two-second win and a time of 10:27:14. Tanaka beat yesterday's winning time by three seconds.
 
The Pioneers won their first event in the 200-yard freestyle as Dang was unable to mount a late comeback.
 
Amgalan answered back with a win in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 22:66. Loo continued to dominate individually in the 200-yard IM after he fell behind early but amounted a massive comeback to win.
 
Dang earned his first individual collegiate victory in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:04:39. The freshman won by a narrow margin of three-tenths of a second.
 
"Friday and Saturday dual meets are always a tough task for the Lutes. We're very proud of their energy, camaraderie, and "go get it" attitude today." Said Head Coach Andrew Lum following the win.
 
Stanley showed off his speed with a time of 48:66 in the 100-yard freestyle as he cruised to victory.
 
Tanaka earned his second win of the day in the 500-yard freestyle, while Loo also won his second event of the day in the 200-yard breaststroke.
 
Rounding out the dominant match, the squad of Amgalan, Tanaka, Thompson, and Stanley made quick work of the 400-yard freestyle with a win 22-seconds better than the field.
 
The Lutes will look to continue their win streak at home next Friday, November 10th, at 6 p.m. against the College of Idaho and Southwestern Oregon Community College inside the PLU Pool.
