Women’s Basketball Season Closes at Pacific

Box Score FOREST GROVE, Ore. – The Pacific Lutheran University women's basketball season came to a close on Friday night at Pacific University. The Lutes led by as many as 10 after scoring 19 points in the first quarter, but couldn't keep the momentum going in a battle with the Boxers, falling 62-36.

"We started out scoring the ball really well, but when they turned up the pressure on defense we couldn't keep pace," said PLU Head Coach Lee Aduddell.

Kasidy Javernick had seven points and Ashley Akamine added six as the visitors led 19-12 after the first 10 minutes of action. PLU hung on to the lead until there was 3:09 showing in the second quarter as Pacific went on a 13-0 run to take a lead it wouldn't relinquish.

"This team battled through a tough year and never gave in," said Aduddell. "I'm really proud of the character of this team."

PLU held the Boxers to 34 percent shooting from the field, but were unable to capitalize on a strong defensive effort. Javernick led the way with 10 points, while Akamine added eight. Stacie Spahr pulled down a game-high nine rebounds and chipped in seven points.
