Lutes Expose Bigfoot, 6-3

TACOMA, Wash. - Chloe Andrewjeski, Meggie Burnett, and Jillian Chong all won their singles and doubles matches on Saturday evening, powering the Pacific Lutheran University women's tennis squad to a 6-3 victory over Community Colleges of Spokane in a non-conference dual at the Galbraith Tennis Center.

"It was a fun atmosphere with both the men and women playing at the same time. It was really terrific to see them pulling for each other out there," said Head Coach Michael Harmon.

"The women cruised, losing only one contested match. Carmen, a transfer from Park University, won her debut singles match which was great to see."

The host Lutes (6-2) set the tone in doubles play,. with Burnett and Chong coasting to an 8-1 victory over the Bigfoot's No. 2 tandem while Andrewjeski and Lilian Nguyen secured an 8-5 win at the No. 1 position.

In singles, Andrewjeski earned a, 6-2, 6-1, win over CC of Spokane's Molly Kirkham while Chong secured the double bagel at No. 3, winning 6-0, 6-0. Burnett prevailed, 6-2, 6-2, at No. 4 while Carmen Kiewert made her Lute debut with a, 6-2, 6-2, win at No. 5.

Two of the Bigfoot's three wins came by default, winning No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles in that fashion.

It's a short turnaround for the Lutes who face Whitworth University tomorrow at 10 a.m. at the UPS Tennis Pavilion.
