Box Score 2 WHITTIER, Calif. – After dropping the opening game of Saturday's doubleheader, the Pacific Lutheran University baseball team rallied for a 13-7 victory in the nightcap at Whittier College.

Game 1
Whittier scored in seven of its eight at-bats to earn a 15-2 victory and take the series. The Poets were leading 7-0 before PLU got on the board in the sixth, and the Lutes scored another solo tally in the top of the ninth. Whittier had 17 hits in the opening game.Â

Braeden Lundberg was a perfect 3-for-3 with a RBI to lead the Lutes at the plate.
Andy Schmitz,
Ashton Barton and
Lukas Delisle all doubled to aid the effort.
Cole Trotignon (0-4) took the loss after allowing six earned runs in four innings.

Game 2
PLU scored nine times across the second, third and fourth innings to take a 9-1 lead and cruise to a victory to avoid the sweep.

Barton was the hitting star for Game 2, going 3-for-5 with two knocked in.
Rochne Beecham drove in three more and
Carson Burke hit a three-run jack in a pinch-hit opportunity.
Brody Phinney knocked in two more runs and Schmitz and
Aaron Barber both had a pair of hits.

Chris Moreno (1-1) made his first career start and tossed 6 2/3 innings, giving up five runs and six hits.
Jonathan Cohen shut the door on the Poets, getting the final seven outs and allowing just one run on three hits.

The Lutes will jump back into Northwest Conference action next weekend. PLU will head across town to face archrival University of Puget Sound for a three-game series beginning with a doubleheader next Saturday at 12:00 p.m.
