Box Score WALLA WALLA, Wash. – Pacific Lutheran University's all-time home run king, Cole Trotignon, went deep again on Sunday to finish his career with 27 long balls, but the Lute baseball team lost the season finale on Sunday against Whitman College, 11-8.
 
"This senior class will be missed," said PLU Head Coach Nolan Soete. "It's not a big class, but a very impactful class. Andy Schmitz and Cole Trotignon are at the top of the list in terms of consistent production over the years. When you look at career numbers for our program you are going to see their names in several top 10 offensive categories. Trotignon's numbers are especially impressive considering he achieved them in just three years.'
 
The Blues held an 8-1 lead over PLU until the Lutes exploded for six runs in the seventh inning. Alex Boyd, Trotignon and Braeden Lundberg all homered to account for all six runs. Boyd hit a solo shot, Trotignon hit a two-run blast and Lundberg contributed a three-run shot. Trotignon evened the score in the eighth with a base hit to left to tie the score at 8-8.
 
Whitman, however, would rally with three runs in the bottom of the eighth inning and held the Lutes scoreless the rest of the way.
 
Trotignon had four hits with three RBI, a home run, and a run scored in his final day in a Lute uniform. Sean Kauffman was 2-for-2 with a double and a RBI after getting the start in left.  Freshman Chris Moreno got the start and allowed four earned runs on only three hits in 3 1/3 innings. Jaden Pieper took the loss after tossing scoreless fifth, sixth and seventh innings. The Blues finally got to the sophomore in the eighth as he was charged with all three runs.
