Results

SPOKANE, Wash.-- The Pacific Lutheran University women's swimming team swept the relays and won three more events but it wasn't enough on Saturday afternoon, getting edged 109-93 by host Whitworth University in a Northwest Conference dual meet.

The Lutes (4-3, 3-2 NWC) set the tone in the opening race with Annika Eisele, Makenzie Chan-Orcutt, Jessica Ordaz, and Sidney Chan-Orcutt winning the 400-yard medley relay in four minutes, 7.72 seconds.

Sidney Chan-Orcutt won the 50-yard freestyle after touching the wall in 25.86, and won her third race of the day as a member of the 400-yard freestyle relay, teaming up with Ordaz, Riley Maher, and Emma Gassman to clock a 14-second win over the Pirates, stopping the clock in 3:50.42.

Ordaz won the 100-yard freestyle in 54.86, joining Sidney Chan-Orcutt as an event winner in three races while Annika Eisele prevailed in the 200-yard backstroke, topping the field in 2:17.69.

"Whitworth asked some very tough questions for the Lutes today, but we navigated a very deep and talented team to the best of our abilities. It's a great experience for us to race quality competitors as we continue along our journey towards the Conference Championships in February," said Head Coach Andrew Lum.

"The NWC will continue to ask hard questions of us the next couple of weeks, and we feel confident that the Lutes will have the answers at the end of the season."

Gassman bagged runner-up finishes in the 200-yard freestyle (2:06.01) and the 200-yard butterfly (2:24.89) while Jersey Razzano took second billing in the 1,000-yard freestyle, churning out a time of 11:55.49.

Maher was second in the 200-yard individual medley (2:22.12) and third in the 200-yard butterfly (2:24.89) while Makenzie Chan-Orcutt finished runner-up in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:32.86).

"We're gritty, tenacious, and buoyed each other well this weekend. The Lutes are prepared to finish off our regular season at home for our last few competitions!"

The Lutes are back at home on Friday, hosting Linfield University at 6 p.m.
