NEWBERG, Ore. --- The Pacific Lutheran University Women's Soccer team (5-1-3, 5-0-1 NWC) kept their winning ways going on Saturday against the George Fox Bruins (4-4-1, 1-3-1 NWC) as senior

Â
Following senior
Lily Dose's game-opening shot missing the target, senior forward

Â
George Fox responded with a counter-attack of their own in the 31
st minute, taking advantage of the opportunity and knotting the score up at 1-1. Sophomore
Ally Tattar entered the game for the Lutes moments before the Bruins score, which she would soon make her presence felt on the Lutes offense. Tattar's second shot of the game in the 43
rd minute found the back of the Bruins net. Tattar's score come off of a pass from
Carmen Kiewert, which put the Lutes up 2-1 at the half.
Â
After regaining the lead at the end of the first half, the PLU offense began the second half with back-to-back goals in the first six minutes of the final half. The first, coming from Cecil who added her second score of the game and earning an assist from
Jaden Saucelo. The latter coming from senior
Julia Causbie less-than three minutes later. Over the course of just over seven game-minutes, the Lutes took a 1-1 game and made it 4-1.
Â
As the defense remained steady for the Lutes, the offense tried to add on with more shots in the 68
th minute, but
Kiana Gutierrez's lone shot missed off of the crossbar. George Fox was held to just one attempt in the second half, which came just 12-seconds into the half. The Lutes rolled past the Bruins on the road, leaving Newberg with a 4-1 victory.
Â
"Really good performance today, some of our best soccer of the year." Said Head Coach
Seth Spidahl following the Lutes win. "Kaitlyn McDougal had an outstanding game in the back, while
Kiana Gutierrez had one of her best games in a PLU uniform; she played very well today. It was good to see Hannah score some goals and
Ally Tattar come through again. We got to play a lot of players and it was just a really good day. I'm very happy with how we played, but we know Pacific is a tough team and it will be a tough challenge tomorrow. We will rest up and prepare for game two of the weekend. Go Lutes!"
Â
PLU's offense controlled the game throughout, firing 21 shots with 12 ending on-frame. Meanwhile, the Bruins six shots resulted in three on-target, with one resulting in their lone score. Winkler's two saves in the contest came in the first half. Seniors Cecil and Dose combined for 11 shots, and five on-target. Eight different Lutes took shots in the game, five of which coming off of the bench.
