TACOMA, Wash. --- The Pacific Lutheran Women's Basketball team returned to action in their second game of the weekend on Sunday, as they were unable to maintain the halftime lead against Ripon College on the Puget Sound campus.

Junior
Sydney Reisner got the scoring started for the Lutes, sinking a layup to open the game. Following a 4-4 tie, the Lutes were able to go on a 8-9 run and take a 12-4 lead. The Lutes run was capped off by a three-pointer by
Kasidy Javernick. But the Red Hawks answered with a 7-0 run in their favor, cutting the Lutes lead to just one and holding PLU scoreless over the final 2:47 of the first quarter.
Â
Reisner paired with
Brandie Tobin and
Emi Wada to keep the Lutes on top early in the second quarter, surrendering the lead for a moment before Reisner and Javernick made back-to-back threes to give the Lutes a 5-point lead. Similar to Saturday's season opener, the Lutes led at the half, this time by five points. The PLU defense locked in over the 10-minute second quarter, allowing just seven points for Ripon.
Â
Javernick scored the first two baskets early in the second half, as a pair of layups kept the Lutes ahead by five. But the Lutes offense went cold over the final 4:36 of the quarter, unable to get a basket while the Red Hawks offense found a spark and went on a 14-0 run, giving Ripon a nine-point lead heading into the fourth.
Â
The shooting woes continued in the final quarter for the Lutes, with
Brooke Samura's layup coming as the Lutes only points over the first five minutes of the quarter. Over this time, Ripon was able to extend their lead to 12-points. Samura accounted for five of the Lutes nine total points in the final quarter, as the Red Hawks closed out the game, 51-38.
Â
Kasidy Javernick led the Lutes in scoring, with 13 points, adding three rebounds and four steals in the game.
Stacie Spahr gathered six rebounds in her 25-minutes played, with
Brandie Tobin recording five assists.
