Men's Swim Sweeps Every Race in 153-38 Win at Willamette

SALEM, Ore. --- The Pacific Lutheran University Men's Swimming team dominated on the road against the Willamette Bearcats in a Northwest Conference showdown, coming away with a 153-38 victory.

In the first race of the afternoon, the 400-yard Medley Relay, the team of Hoskoo Amgalan, Christian Georgi, Na'inoa Loo, and Ben Thompson earned the 11-points for the team after coming in first with a time of 3:49.00. The squad won the race by over 10-seconds ahead of the team from Willamette.

Tyler Tanaka followed suite with an impressive victory in the 800-yard Freestyle, with a time of 8:41.28. Later, in the 200-yard Freestyle, Dakota Domingo, Hoskoo Amgalan, and Elijah Vickery went 1-2-3 to further extend the Lutes lead as a team. Domingo continued his strong start to his PLU career, notching a time of 1:56.79.

The Lutes continued to light up the leaderboard, as Devin Stanley, Anthony James, and Ben Thompson also swept the podium in the quick 50-yard relay, all with a three-second or more margin over the first Bearcat finisher. Tanaka and Gus Hertz were the first to touch the wall in the 100-yard IM, maintaining the Lutes sweep of races to start the afternoon.

Loo's time of 1:33.46 in the 150-yard Butterfly earned himself another win by four-and-a-half seconds. Stanley and Anthony went wire-to-wire in the 100-yard Freestyle, each taking the top two spots in the race.

Georgi, Hertz, and Luke Farag then swept the 150-yard Backstroke, clearing the Bearcats by a margin of eight-plus seconds each. Tanaka claimed his third title of the day, this time in the 400-yard Freestyle, with a time of 4:04.59, followed by Georgi taking first in the closest race of the night, the 150-yard Breaststroke.

To cap off the already stellar performances by the Lutes, Farag, Thompson, Domingo, and Stanley finished first in the final race, the 400-yard Freestyle Relay with a time of 3:25.99. But even better, the second team of Aidan Koshinsky, Loo, Amagalan, and Anthony were close behind with a time of 3:26.32, enough to take second as well.

The Lutes men's swimming squad swept the day of races in Salem, winning all 11 events, thus leading to a dominant 153-38 victory over Willamette for their first dual win of the conference season.

PLU Men's Swimming will look to continue their winning ways next weekend in Forest Grove, Oregon, and they are set to face the Pacific Boxers in yet another Northwest Conference dual meet.
