"Thank you to SPU and UPS for joining us on the water this morning. Our goals for today were to improve upon our performances at Charlie Brown and continue seeing our progress and gains throughout this fall season. Combined with our land testing battery this week and our performances today, we are on the right track. While we would have liked to see more competitive margins throughout the entire squad, we rowed at our highest level to date. We look forward to turning this momentum into a well-executed winter season." Said first-year Head Coach
Matt Oclander.
Â
"I want to give a special shout-out to our novice coxswains,
Sylvie Manz and
Jilma Diaz-Demangue, who stepped up and did a spectacular job executing their race plans, steering a precise course, and making great calls during their races. They have made huge strides this season."
Â
"Overall, we were all very pleased with the development opportunity today's event provided. Thanks again to SPU for making the trip down and UPS for helping us make the event happen. We look forward to seeing both teams first thing in the spring at the PLU Invite. SPU is a championship-level DII crew, and UPS had the measure of the conference and earned their NCAA bid last year; I am glad we got a chance to race them this fall. Lastly, a big thank you to all of the family and friends who showed up to cheer our student-athletes. Go Lutes!"
Â
The Lutes look to spend the winter months preparing for Saturday, March 8
th, where they next compete in the PLU Invitational on American Lake in Lakewood, Wash.
