THOUSAND OAKS, Calif.— Ashton Barton and
Aaron Barber both finished the afternoon with three hits but it wasn't enough offense for the Pacific Lutheran University baseball team in a twinbill against non-conference foe California Lutheran University. The host Kingsmen downed the Lutes 15-1 in the opener before utilizing an eighth inning rally to emerge with an 8-4 win in game two to complete the sweep.
"Cal Lutheran is a good team and we didn't play well enough to beat a good team today," said Head Coach
Nolan Soete.
"Crawley did a great job on the mound in game two. We were in good position to win that game, unfortunately, we couldn't finish it for him. We will need to be better in all phases tomorrow."
The host Kingsmen (12-5) plated two in the bottom of the first in game one of the series. A double brought in the game's first score before a wild pitch set up a sacrifice fly to make it 2-0 Cal Lu.
CLU added three runs in the third before exploding for five runs in both the fourth and fifth innings. A
Rowan Amann double scored
Jaden Pieper in the top of the ninth but it was too little, too late for the Lutes (6-12) in a 15-1 setback.
PLU was outhit 20-4 in the opener with starting pitcher
Chris Moreno getting tagged with the decision, tossing 2 2/3 innings and yielding five earned runs.
Jake Sulya tossed the final 3 2/3 innings, scattering seven hits and striking out two while allowing no walks and no runs.
Cal Lu opened game two by scoring a single run in the bottom of the second inning. A Barber double tied the game in the third inning, plating

Carson Burke single scored
Rochne Beecham for a 2-1 lead in the fourth only to see a Cal Lu sacrifice fly tying the game in the bottom half of the inning.
PLU's lead grew to 4-2 courtesy of a Barton double in the fifth that scored Barber before Adcox absorbed a pitch to walk in
Hayden Kaiser the following inning. CLU added a run of its own in the sixth to pull within one before exploding for five runs in the eighth to secure the win and the doubleheader sweep.
PLU pounded out 10 hits in game two with Barton finishing three-for-five with an RBI while Barber and
Brayden Adcox both had a pair of base knocks.
Jon Crawley tossed the opening 5 2/3 innings for the Lutes, striking out two and allowing just three runs.
Anthony Adams was the pitcher of record, tossing two innings of middle relief, striking out one and allowing no walks.
The Lutes and Kingsmen finish off the series tomorrow with a single game beginning at noon.
