HILLSBORO, Ore. — A record setting performance and a game changing play led to a pair of Pacific Lutheran University football student-athletes earning Northwest Conference Player of the Week honors on Monday.
Anthony Mahaffey was named the NWC Offensive Player of the Week after tying a school record while
Zachary Gable was tabbed the NWC Defensive Player of the Week.
A Pollock Pines, California native, Mahaffey earns NWC Offensive Player of the Week after tossing six touchdowns passes to tie a school record in PLU's 47-29 victory over Pacific University on Saturday to remain undefeated in conference play. The junior threw touchdown passes to four different receivers and finished the day 24-for-34 with 331 yards. His half dozen touchdowns ties a school record that's shared by PLU Hall of Famers Craig Kupp (1989) and Marc Weekly (1991 and 1993).

A Vancouver, Washington native, Gable was everywhere on Saturday. The senior had three tackles for loss, two sacks, a forced fumble, an interception, and a quarterback hurry. Gable had a sack fumble late in the first quarter that turned into a safety for the Lutes (4-2, 3-0 NWC) first points of the game. That play opened the floodgates with PLU's offense scoring four touchdowns over the next quarter to build a 30-6 halftime advantage.

Connor Meade (special teams_ on Sept. 15.
