Complete D3football.com Team of the Week
TACOMA, Wash. — A dominating defensive performance has earned Pacific Lutheran University defensive end
Zachary Gable a second honor in as many days, securing a spot on the D3football.com Team of the Week.
Gable was one of 26 players to earn a spot on the Team of the Week, and one of just two student-athletes representing the West Coast. Gable lands a spot as one of two defensive ends. Claremont-Mudd-Scripps College's George Kruger is the only other West Coast player to make the team this week, securing one of the three linebacker spots.
Â
Named Northwest Conference Defensive Player of the Week yesterday afternoon, Gable was everywhere in PLU's 47-29 victory over Pacific University on Saturday. The senior had three tackles for loss, two sacks, a forced fumble, an interception, and a quarterback hurry. His sack fumble late in the first quarter turned into a Lute safety, turning the tide and opening the floodgates to a second quarter that saw the Lutes pile on 28 unanswered points.Â
The Vancouver, Washington native is the fourth Lute to earn D3football.com Team of the Week honors this fall and is the third in as many weeks.
Jacob Schuh was named to the team as a running back last Tuesday while defensive end
Cole Becker was recognized on Oct. 7 and kick returner
Connor Meade was honored on Sept. 16. This is the first time since 2000 that PLU has had four different players earn Team of the Week in the same year.Â
Gable is the 24th Lute to earn a spot on the Team of the Week over the 27 seasons D3football.com has sponsored the team that highlights the best weekly performances from the 241 NCAA Division III schools across the nation.
