HILLSBORO, Ore. — The Northwest Conference released the first installment of the McIlroy-Lewis All-Sports Trophy Standings on Thursday with the Pacific Lutheran University Athletic Department ranking second at the conclusion of the fall sports seasons.
The Lutes secured 71 total points across the six fall championship sports, placing second among the nine conference institutions. In-state rival Whitworth University headlines the standings with 87 points while PLU's crosstown nemesis University of Puget Sound is third sitting one point back of the Lutes wit 70 points.
George Fox University is the top Oregon school, checking in at No. 4 with 62 points while Whitman College is fifth with 60 points. Willamette University is sixth with 51 points followed by Pacific University (seventh, 50 points), Linfield University (eighth, 48 points), and Lewis & Clark College (ninth, 39 points).
The Lutes racked up 17 points from winning a share of their ninth straight league title in women's soccer while garnering 16 points from a runner-up showing from men's soccer. Football and volleyball each chipped in 14 points from third place finishes while women's cross country contributed six points and men's cross country added four.
The Northwest Conference All-Sports Trophy recognizes athletic excellence among Northwest Conference institutions across all fields of competition. It is named in honor of John Lewis, the baseball coach (1947-72), basketball coach (1947-67) and athletics director (1952- 72) at Willamette University; and Jane McIlroy, Linfield College's women's athletics director and physical education professor from 1950-82 who also coached field hockey (1952-81), basketball, volleyball, softball and tennis.

The next update of the All-Sports Trophy will be after the conclusion of the basketball and swimming seasons in March.
