TACOMA, Wash. — Sydney Reisner dropped a season-high 18 points in the home opener but its wasn't enough for the Pacific Lutheran University women's basketball team to get past undefeated Corban University, falling 107-58 on Friday night inside Olson Gymnasium.
"Corban is a great team but our goal continues to be growth and I saw a lot of that tonight," said Head Coach
Lee Aduddell.
"Our execution took a big step forward.
Emi Wada's play opened up some opportunities for Sydney and Lilli and I'm excited to keep improving with this group this season."
Both teams were drawing up treys to get things started, including makes from both Reisner and
Lilli Williams for the Lutes (0-4) to take an early 6-3 lead. PLU's lead grew to four on a
Kate Wooten jumper with 4:52 left in the first quarter but the visiting Warriors (6-0) scored the next seven, taking a 17-14 lead.Â
A pair of Reisner free throws tipped the scales back in favor of the Lutes with 2:28 left in the first and again on a pair of Reisner free throws with 77 seconds left in the period but a Corban three put the visitors up 22-20 after one quarter of action.
The Warriors, who are receiving votes in the NAIA national poll, opened the second quarter on a 15-2 lead and never looked back in route to their sixth win of the year.Â
Â
Resiner hit three treys on the day and was four-for-eight from the floor, finishing with 18 points and two steals.
