Lutes Attack Early and Often Downing the Geoducks 64-47

TACOMA, Wash.— Pacific Lutheran University women's basketball team scored early and often scoring their most points in a quarter this season at 24 in a 64-47 win over The Evergreen State College on Sunday afternoon.

Lutes improve to 1-6 on the season and own the all-time series against Evergreen State 11-9.

"Our offense continues to trend up as we work to become better on the defensive end," Head Coach Lee Aduddell commented. "I saw some really positive things on both ends. Our seniors led the way for us today. This week we we'll go back to work and cleaning up some of our defensive mistakes."

PLU was determined from the jump going on an immediate 11-0 run to being the game which forced the Geoducks to call a timeout. Sydney Reisner led the charge ratcheting up the defensive pressure and knocking down two three pointers. In the second quarter, the Lutes would start to push the tempo as Emi Wada converted on several fast break layups and one of a backdoor cut. Lutes would end the first half with back-to-back threes from Kiley McMahon and Reisner to go up 42-26.

The Lutes defensive pressure would continue to stymie the Geoducks and Reisner and Lilli Williams wreaked havoc in the back court causing multiple turnovers and several steals. This allowed PLU to get up and down in transition and find Ava Bright and Kylie Griffin for open baskets. The senior back court of Wada and Reisner continue to be a deadly combination in the fourth as they directed the offense. Lutes would finish the game with 22 bench points and 21 points off turnovers, which is a season-high.

Lutes finished with three double-digit scorers for the second straight game. Reisner led all scorers with 18 points, 4 steals, and three three-pointers. Wada and Griffin both filled up the stat sheet Wada with 11 points, three rebounds and two assists and Griffin with 11 points, six rebounds and three assists.
