Lutes Caged by the Bruins in Newberg

NEWBERG, Ore.--- The Pacific Lutheran University women's lacrosse team (1-12, 0-6 NWC) fell on the road to close out the weekend road trip, as the George Fox Bruins (10-4, 6-0 NWC) took Saturday's matinee, 22-1.

The reigning-conference champion Bruins wasted no time on Saturday, scoring five goals in the first four minutes of play. The Lutes were held to just two shots in the first 15-minutes of action, both coming from freshman Taylee Alldredge; one missed the target, and the other was stopped by the Bruins goalkeeper.

The Lutes offense was unable to get back the stingy defense of the Bruins, as George Fox controlled the offensive possession for the majority of the first half, which propelled them out to a 14-0 lead at the half.

Alldredge took the opening draw of the second half, where Gracie Cecka could earn her first shot of the game, but misses the goal just wide. From there, the Lutes opportunities were slim on offense, while George Fox added five more to their total in the third.

George Fox scored three goals in the final quarter of play, which is where Alldredge took another draw control the distance, firing two shots, with the latter coming off of a pass from Lydia Flaspohler. Alldredge's second attempt beat the Bruins goalkeeper, ending their shutout, and earning Flaspohler the assist.

The Lutes fell to the reigning-champion Bruins on Saturday afternoon, 22-1.

Alldredge fired four the Lutes five total shots on Saturday, with Gracie Cecka's lone attempt missing the target. Brandie Tobin and Kassie Diller picked up four ground balls each, with Tobin also forcing four turnovers on defense. Diller made 12 saves on 49 shots faced in the game.

The Lutes finish up their first regular season next weekend on East Field, hosting a pair of games against Whitman and Whitworth on Saturday and Sunday, with both games slated for 1 p.m.
