TACOMA, Wash. — The Pacific Lutheran University baseball program added a new Lute to the team last Thursday, signing 10-year old Keltin through Team Impact in a special Draft Day Ceremony.
"We're excited to officially have Keltin as a member of the team," said Head Coach
Nolan Soete.
"Keltin's been coming out to practice for about a month and has been at some team dinners, so we felt it necessary to make this thing official and have him sign a letter of intent to play for our team for the next two years."
Keltin who lives on base at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, will participate in team activities with the Lute baseball team over the next two years. A 10-year old, Keltin is living with down syndrome and hypothyroidism. He participates in Special Olympics bowling and enjoys being active. Keltin is silly, energetic, and outgoing. His interests include hot wheels, bowling, Mickey Mouse, Kids Bop music, swimming, and riding his trike.
Keltin's parents hope the partnership with the Lute baseball team helps him build confidence in social settings and provide him with opportunities to experience new things.
Keltin is the second kid to pair with a PLU team through Team Impact with the Lute football team welcoming 13-year old Chase to the program back in September.
Team IMPACT, a national non-profit organization, has developed a unique multiyear program that matches children facing serious illness and disability with college athletic teams across the country. Based on a clinical model, Team IMPACT guides a symbiotic relationship between teams and children focused on socialization, empowerment, and resilience.
The Lutes close out the 2025 season this weekend with a three-game series on the road against the University of Puget Sound.
