Official NWC Release
HILLSBORO, Ore. —Â
Paige Wilson tossed her second no-hitter over the weekend and on Monday was rewarded for that performance, securing Northwest Conference Pitcher of the Week for the second time this season.
The Carlsbad, California native struck out five, issued just one walk in the five-inning no-hitter. Wilson faced 17 batters on the day, inducing six fly outs and four ground outs in an 11-0 road win over Willamette University.
It was Wilson's second no-no of the spring after striking out nine in an 8-0 win over Gordon College back on March 8. That day also saw
Rachel Treves toss a no-hitter, doing it against Widener University. Wilson becomes the first Lute to register two no-hitters in a season since 2003 when Candace Howard twirled three no-hitters.Â
Â
Wilson previously won NWC Pitcher of the Week on March 10, the same day that
Zoe Smithson was tabbed the NWC Hitter of the Week.
Â
PLU (13-7, 3-5 NWC) is back on the diamond on Saturday, hosting Lewis & Clark College in a doubleheader beginning at noon.Â
