Burke Named Nominee for Allstate NACDA Good Works Team

Official Release

TACOMA, Wash. — Allstate and the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) announced its spring nominees for its Good Works Team on Tuesday with Pacific Lutheran University third basemen Carson Burke among the student-athletes on the list.

Burke is the lone NCAA Division III baseball player to make the cut, earning a nomination after donating lifesaving stem cells to a cancer patient in need earlier this spring. Learn more here: LINK

The Allstate NACDA Good Works Team is an initiative to recognize and honor student-athletes who demonstrate levels of volunteerism and civic engagement that are above and beyond their success and achievements in the classroom and competition. The goal of the program is to provide recognition for these future community leaders, their teams, academic institutions, and the communities they support.

The Allstate NACDA Good Works Team builds on the legacy of the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team, which has been recognizing college football players for their off-the-field good works since 1992, by honoring 60 additional student-athletes across the winter, spring and fall sports seasons (20 student-athletes per season – 10 male and 10 female) across all sports and all divisions.

A distinguished selection committee of athletics directors, former athletes and industry leaders will choose the final 20-member team — 10 female and 10 male student-athletes — set to be announced April 29.

Burke and the Lutes are back on the diamond tomorrow afternoon with a non-conference showdown on the road against crosstown rival University of Puget Sound. First pitch is set for 4 p.m.
