TACOMA, WASH.— The Pacific Lutheran University men's swimming team opened up the new year with a strong 98-23 team win over Northwest Conference rivals of Pacific University Boxers on Friday evening.
The Lutes (5-0) returned to action at home for the first time in over a month and won all 10 events against the Boxers.
PLU had strong showings to start the night with PLU A&B 400 yard medley relay team's posting times of 3:55.46 and 4:04.04.
Christian Georgi,
Marshall Bataluna, Gus Hertz. and Sebastan Arellano made up the winning PLU A squad.
The Lutes would then go on a run winning all eight individual events.
Aidan Koshinsky won the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:57.58 to start things off.
Christian Georgi followed the momentum with a 24.01 and first place finish in the 50 yard freestyle. Gus Hertz took the 200 yard individual medley in 2:08.46, followed by a Bataluna win in the 200-yard butterfly in 2:22.23.
Elijah Vickery won the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 51.93 while
Sebastian Arellano added on winning the 200 yard backstroke in 2:10.89.
Christian Georgi prevailed in the 500-yard freestyle (5:28.28) with Hertz taking his third win of the night in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:27.67).
PLU closed out the meet wth a win in the 400-yard freestyle relay with
Hoskoo Amgalan, Vickery, Bataluna, and
Anthony James finishing in 3:29.92.
All told, eight different Lutes won events in the dominating win to remain undefeated in conference dual meets.
Lutes will be back in action at Whitworth University on January 23rd at 6 PM.
