Results

SPOKANE, Wash. -- Kyleigh Archer won the triple jump and Ki Neir was third in the pole vault, headlining the Pacific Lutheran University women's track & field team's efforts at the Whitworth Invitational on Saturday at The Podium to close out the indoor season.

"It was good to get the bulk of the team debuting this weekend," said Head Coach Trey Henderson.

"We had really strong performances and a lot of our first years got to debut and have their first college experience."

Archer bested the 19-competitor field in the triple jump with a winning leap of 36 feet, three inches, a mark accomplished on her sixth and final attempt of the day. Teammate Madison Downey was ninth in the same event, leaping 33' 6".

Neir was third in the pole vault, clearing 10' 8 ¾" on Friday evening with Downey ninth with a vault of 9' 9".

Sydney Sparks placed fifth in the high jump with a mark of 5' 1 ¼" while Kiana Gutierrez was eighth in the long jump with a leap of 15' 11". Downey was one spot back in ninth with a mark of 15' 10 ¼", while Archer was 10th (15' 7 ¾").

In the throws, Samayia White led the Lutes with a toss of 32' 4 ¾" in the shot put and a throw of 39' 4" in the weight throw.

On the track, Addisen Hering ran a personal best in the 60-meter hurdles, finishing 10th in 9.64 seconds with Lilly Achterling 16th (9.91). Soukhanya Waters was the top Lute in the 60-meters (8.08) with Lexie McGurk a split-second back in 8.17. McGurk and Waters both ran personal bests in the 200-meters with McGurk finishing in 26.52 and Waters in 27.48.

Heather Johnson ran in the 400-meters in 1:02.96 while in the 3,000-meters Maddie Mitchell paced PLU with a time of 11:32.56.

"I think we're in a good spot at this time of the year with a lot of growth ahead of us. Now it's about getting back to work as we prepare for the start of the outdoor season."

PLU takes the rest of the month off and will open up the outdoor season on March 6 at the Ed Boitano Invitational hosted by crosstown rival University of Puget Sound.
