Setting the Scene: The Pacific Lutheran University women's lacrosse team opens up season two on Friday, hosting Southwestern University while the men's and women's basketball teams closed out the season at home, hosting the Whits. Meanwhile baseball heads to Oregon for a trio of non-league games while men's golf opens the spring campaign in Texas.

Women's Swimming: The Lutes closed out the season with a strong showing at the 2026 Northwest Conference Championships, placing third as a team in Boise, Idaho for the squad's best finish since 2022.
Emma Gassman played a big role in that team finish, placing runner-up in both the 100-yard backstroke (59.13 seconds) and 200-yard backstroke (2:08.96) while
Harper Canessa was second in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:05.67).
Scout Hawkins turned in a third place finish in the 1,650-yard freestyle (18:13.41) and was fourth in the 400-yard individual medley (4:44.49).Â

PLU finished the meet with 410 points to snag third overall at the Idaho Central Aquatic Center, enjoying a 24-point gap on fourth place Whitman College.Â

Men's Basketball: Ben Tellez was on fire over the weekend, securing NWC Player of the Week on Monday after helping the Lutes split a pair of road games in Oregon.Â
The senior averaged 31.5 points per game and 5.0 rebounds per game over the course of the weekend, including shattering a school single game record after draining 12 three-pointers in a 94-49 blowout of Pacific University on Saturday. That game saw Tellez score 40 points, becoming the first Lute since 2008 and just the eighth player ever to score 40 in a game.
That effort came after scoring 23 in a 74-64 setback to Linfield University on Friday.Â

Men's Swimming: Pacific Lutheran had its best showing since 2022 at the NWC Championships, placing fifth as a squad.Â
Vyron Domingo,
Christian Georgi, and
Tyler Tanaka all won Second Team All-Conference honors at the meet. Domingo was fourth in the 100-yard backstroke (52.13) and sixth in the 200-yard backstroke (1:55.79). Georgi was eighth in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:09.58) while Tanaka earned honors in the 200-yard individual medley (sixth- 1:57.35), 100-yard breaststroke (sixth- 57.04), and 200-yard breaststroke (fifth- 2:05.83).Â
The Lutes tallied 287.5 points in the team standings, finishing 5.5-points ahead of sixth place Lewis & Clark College.Â

Women's Track & Field: Kyleigh Archer won the triple jump, pacing the Lutes at the indoor finale at the Whitworth Invitational.
Archer won the event with a mark of 36 feet, three inches, a jump she made on her sixth and final attempt of the day.Â

Ki Neir was third in the pole vault, clearing 10' 8 ¾" while on the track,
Addisen Hering clocked a time of 9.64 in the 60-meter hurdles.

The Lutes take the rest of the month off before opening the outdoor season on March 6 at the Ed Boitano Invitational hosted by the University of Puget Sound.

Men's Track & Field: Hunter Kleindl vaulted 14' 3 ¼" in the pole vault to finish third overall at the Whitworth Invitational.
Bridger Hanis placed fourth in the high jump, clearing 5' 10 ¾" while on the track Tyer Willingham finished the 60-meters in 7.17 and
Noah Friedrich posted a time of 9:08.62 in the 3,000-meters.
The Whitworth Invite was the final indoor meet of the season for the Lutes who will host two meets and compete in seven overall prior to the 2026 NWC Championships held on April 25-26 in Spokane.Â
Women's Basketball: The Lutes (2-21, 1-13 NWC) will honor its seniors
Emi Wada and
Sydney Reisner this weekend after wrapping up its road schedule last weekend in Oregon.
Ghadir Ramadan poured on 13 points but it wasn't enough as NWC leading Linfield prevailed 70-51. The following night Reisner was in double figures for the 16th time this winter, leading the Lutes with 18 points in a 69-52 setback to Pacific.Â

With two games remaining in the season Reisner sits just five three-pointers shy of moving into third place on the all-time list. The senior heads into the homestand having hit 131 threes over the past four seasons.Â

Baseball: Pacific Lutheran (0-3) opened the season in southern California with a three-game series against California Lutheran University.Â
Playing a Kingsmen squad that already had a weekend of games under its belt, the Lutes fell short 23-1, 9-6, and 13-3.Â
Rochne Beecham led the Lutes at the plate, hitting at a .429 clip while Kyle Tat had a .400 batting average with a 1.000 slugging percentage with four RBIs. That duo accounted for both of PLU's home runs during the series.
On the hill, Osei Kimura made two relief appearances, racking up six strikeouts and holding Cal Lu hitters to a paltry .188 batting average over his five innings of work.

Women's Lacrosse: The Lutes open up their 2026 campaign tomorrow, hosting Texas-based Southwestern University at East Field.

This season the Lutes are playing their first three games and four of the first five at the friendly confines of East Field.Â

Men's Golf: Pacific Lutheran opens the spring season on Monday at the Crusader Cup hosted by the University of Dallas.
The Lutes have been idle since closing the fall season on Oct. 20th, a fourth place finish at the Confluence Classic in Walla Walla, Washington. That two-day invite saw
Koen Solis finish third overall after shooting a 144 (69-75) while
Tanner Frinell was 11th with a 147.Â
CRCA Watch List: On Monday the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association released its Athletes to Watch list with women's rowing student-athlete Riah Heil one of two West Coast rowers amongst the 18 from NCAA Division III to be highlighted.

A First Team All-NWC selection last spring, Heil and the Lutes begin the spring on home water on March 7, hosting the PLU Invitational on American Lake.Â
