Women's Hoops Bested by Blues on Senior Day

TACOMA, Wash. — The Pacific Lutheran University women's basketball team was unable to bottle up a hot shooting Whitman College in the first quarter, ultimately derailing the Lutes' efforts to earn a Senior Day victory in a 92-60 setback on Saturday afternoon inside Olson Gymnasium.

"Sydney and Emi's impact on not just this team, but this entire program can't be overstated," said Head Coach Lee Aduddell.

"They're the epitome of selfless teammates and consistent competitors. We will miss them both but our program is better for their presence over the last four seasons."

The visiting Blues scorched the nets in the opening quarter, shooting at a 78.6 percent clip (11-for-14) installing a 26-14 edge after 10 minutes of play. Whitman's lead ballooned to 15 with 7:21 left in the second quarter but eight straight from the Lutes, including a pair of threes from Kylie Griffin whittled the deficit to just 30-23. Another Griffin made it 32-25 with 4:39 remaining but a prolonged scoring drought benefiting Whitman who took a 46-25 lead into the intermission.

Reisner tallied 16 points in her career finale to lead the Lutes, shooting five-for-10 from the floor. The Burlington, Washington native hangs up her sneakers ranking 10th all-time in school history with 1,075 career points and fifth in career three-pointers with 133.

Kylie Griffin added 11 while senior Emi Wada added eight points and four assists in her Lute finale. Ghadir Ramadan scored eight and led the team on the glass with seven rebounds.

Reisner and Wada were both honored prior to the game. The duo have been key parts of the program for the last four seasons with Wada playing in 100 games over the past four seasons while Reisner, the 2023 NWC Rookie of the Year, played in 91 games over her career and started in 89 of those games.
