Official NWC Release
HILLSBORO, Ore. — Pacific Lutheran University pitcher
Maiya Anderson was almost untouchable over the weekend at the NFCA Leadoff Classic in Georgia and on Monday was recognized for her efforts, securing Northwest Conference Pitcher of the Week.
The sophomore from Hawthorne, California allowed no runs and just five hits in 9 2/3 innings of work across three appearances.Â
Anderson struck out three and allowed no hits in 2 2/3 innings of relief against defending national champion and preseason No. 1 Trine University on Friday. The following day Anderson struck out four and allowed just two hits in a 10-0 thrashing of LaGrange College. She capped off the trip by tossing one inning of scoreless relief in Sunday's 3-2 nailbiting setback to Pfieffer University.Â
This is Anderson's first career NWC Pitcher of the Week award and is the first Lute winner since teammate
Paige Wilson nabbed the final NWC Pitcher of the Week honor last season back on May 5.Â
Â
The Lutes (3-3) are back on the diamond on March 13, squaring off against host Pomona-Pitzer Colleges to kick off a six game tour of southern California.Â
