The crew of Riah Heil, Makayla Hall, Hannah Miyasaki, Natalie Gregory, Kat Judd, Tate Trahan, Adia Carei, Kennadi Jones, and coxswain Louisa Compton raced four times over the weekend, squaring off against a stacked field that included three nationally-ranked programs.

PLU clocked a 2,000-meter time of seven minutes, 4.5 seconds to open the racing on Saturday before edging Mount Holyoke College by five seconds in a head-to-head race later in the day. The Lutes were back on the water on Sunday, finishing fourth behind two ranked teams before capping off the weekend with a win over Clark University in the B finals.

This weekend the Lutes will race head-to-head against their Pacific Northwest peers Lewis & Clark College, Pacific University, University of Puget Sound at the Northwest Collegiate Rowing Championships which is replacing the Northwest Conference Championships which was contested from 2015 to 2025.

Softball: The Lutes (25-7, 17-3 NWC) are on fire, winning six in a row and sit tied for first place with third-ranked Linfield University heading into the final two weekends of the regular season.

Pacific Lutheran dominated Willamette University last week, earning a four game sweep with wins by scores of 10-1, 6-2, 9-1, and 11-3.

Fueling the wins was Paola Garcia and Paige Wilson who swept the NWC awards on Monday with Garcia earning NWC Hitter of the Week and Wilson landing NWC Pitcher of the Week.

Garcia had a .571 batting average and a 1.571 slugging percentage for the series with 12 RBIs. That included four home runs and two grand slams.

Wilson was equally as dominant, winning the award for the second straight week. The junior allowed just seven hits in a pair of complete game wins, limiting opposing hitters to a .184 batting average.

Home Sweet Home: The Lutes have been a tough squad to play at PLU Field this spring, owning a 10-2 record inside the friendly confines, winning their last eight games on home turf.

Tough Schedule: Third-ranked Linfield comes to town this weekend, meaning the Lutes will have played the No. 2, No. 3, and No. 4 ranked teams in Trine University, Linfield, and Saint Mary's University. PLU has also played 22nd-ranked Chapman and holds a 1-3 record against nationally-ranked opponents. This will be the first time the Lutes get a chance to play a Top 25 at home.

Men's Track & Field: Micah Ragaza-Bourassa won the hammer throw to headline the Lutes' efforts at the Wildcat Invitational at Central Washington University. Ragaza-Bourassa had a winning toss of 160 feet, 10 inches, finishing ahead of several Division II competitors.

PLU received third place finishes from Hunter Kleindl in the triple jump (41' 3 ¼"), Garrett Armbruster in the pole vault (13' 3 ¾"), George Sonko in the discus (141' 1") and the 4x100-meter relay team (43.25).

On the track, Tyger Willingham clocked a personal record time of 11.02 in the 100-meters.

Women's Golf: Jayda Thomas was named the NWC Golfer of the Week for the second time this spring on Monday for her exploits in last Wednesday's dual match with Bellevue College.

The Lakewood, Washington native won medalist honors in the dual at Chambers Bay Golf Course, shooting an 81 to win by eight strokes. Thomas's performance helped the Lutes to a three-stroke win over the Bulldogs.

Thomas and the Lutes will close out the season this weekend at the 2026 NWC Championships in Oregon.

Women's Track & Field: Ki Neir was named the NWC Field Athlete of the Week on Monday, headlining PLU's efforts at the Wildcat Invitational in Ellensburg, Washington.

Neir won the pole vault by almost a foot, clearing 11' 5 ¼" for an outdoor personal best that currently sits as the 54th best vault in Division III this season.

Neir wasn't the only event winner for the Lutes with Sandra Valmonte winning the hammer throw (146' 3") while getting second place finishes from Kira Marshall in the long jump (17' 3 ½"), Abi Caprye in the pole vault (10' 5 ½"), and the 4x400-meter relay team (4;24.05).

Men's Golf: The Lutes have been idle since they competed at the NWC Spring Classic over Easter weekend at the Oakbrook Golf Club.

This weekend is the third of the three major championships that decide the final conference standings. PLU finished fourth at the NWC Fall Classic in October and fifth two weekends ago at the Spring Classic. Those two events combined count for 50 percent of the team's final standing with the remaining 50 percent based off the performance this weekend at the NWC Championships.

Women's Lacrosse: Pacific Lutheran (3-9, 1-3 NWC) heads into its final home weekend of the season and its penultimate weekend of regular season conference play. The Lutes downed University of Puget Sound 11-7 last week Wednesday before coming up short 22-3 to Lewis & Clark College at home on Saturday.

That game saw the River Otters strike early and often, building an early 7-0 lead. PLU's goals came from three different players with Issabella Marchio, Payton Terhar, and Katrina Moran all finding the back of the net.

Baseball: The Lutes (9-16, 7-8 NWC) trekked to California for the second time this season last weekend, dropping a four-game series with host Chapman University.

Pacific Lutheran held leads in three of the four games but was unable to hold on falling to the Panthers by scores of 9-6, 9-3, 4-3, and 14-6.

With three weekends left in league play, the Lutes are battling for a spot in the four-team NWC Tournament, currently sitting tied for fourth with crosstown rival Puget Sound who PLU will host in the regular season finale in early May.
