Setting the Scene: The Lutes are largely on the road, squeezing in competitions before the Easter Holiday. Pacific Lutheran University's baseball, softball, and women's lacrosse programs all compete in Oregon on Friday and Saturday while the men's and women's golf squad will compete in Tacoma at the NWC Spring Classic. Track & field will compete as a split squad with field events staying home for the PLU Spring Festival while runners will trek to McMinnville, Oregon for the Jenn Boyman Invitational.

Softball: The Lutes (18-6, 10-2 NWC) sit tied for first place as they hit the halfway point of the conference season this weekend with a trip down to Newberg, Oregon to face George Fox University.
Pacific Lutheran hammered crosstown rival University of Puget Sound last weekend, cranking out 41 runs over the four game series to sweep the Loggers. The Lutes rolled the Loggers 10-0 and 11-8 on Saturday before securing 10-0 and 10-5 victories on Sunday.
Paola Garcia was the star of the weekend, securing NFCA National Player of the Week honors for her efforts against the Loggers and PLU's series earlier in the week against Lewis & Clark College. The California native had five home runs and hit .421 with 12 RBIs, helping PLU win six of its eight games.

Maiya Anderson were additionally recognized on Thursday, being one of 118 student-athletes from around the nation to be added to the NFCA watchlist for the NCAA Division III Player and Pitcher of the Year Awards.
Women's Golf: Pacific Lutheran finished runner-up at the George Fox Invitational earlier this week, enjoying a 19-stroke edge on crosstown nemesis Puget Sound.
The Lutes tallied a two-day total of 681, shooting a 343 as a team during round one at Arrowhead Golf Club on Monday before shaving off five strokes with a 338 on Tuesday.
Jayda Thomas led the Lutes, placing third overall with a 161 (83-78) while
Emily Alicea was the second Lute inside the Top 10, placing seventh with a 168 (82-86).
Baseball: The Lutes (9-9, 7-5 NWC) were dialed in over the weekend, earning the program's first NWC series sweep since the 2023 season. PLU rallied to a 5-2 victory over Willamette University in the opener with
Kaleb McNeely bopping a go-ahead three-run home run in the seventh inning before dropping four runs in the bottom of the first in a 9-5 victory in game two. Eight runs across a two inning stretch generated a 9-5 victory on Sunday to secure the sweep.
PLU logged one final game of the weekend on Sunday, resting the squad's usual starters in a 7-2 non-conference setback to the Bearcats.
The NWC sweep of Willamette was the first since the Lutes swept Puget Sound on April 1-2, 2023.
Men's Golf: The Lutes surged up the leaderboard on Tuesday, moving from seventh to second at the George Fox Invitational at Arrowhead Golf Club.
Koen Solis shot a three-under 68 on Tuesday to force a playoff hole for medalist honors with Whitworth University's Matthew Durkin. After two holes, Solis came up just short but still tied atop the leaderboard with a two round tally of 141 (73-68).
Tanner Frinell tied for fourth playing as an individual with a 146 (73-73) while
Marcus Otto was 17th with a 150 (75-75).
PLU finished five strokes shy of the team title, shooting a 593 over the two round event. The Lutes were seventh after day one, shooting a 307 before shaving off 21 strokes to move up and make a run at the team title.
Women's Track & Field: Abi Caprye won the high jump to headline the Lutes' efforts on Saturday at the Peyton-Shotwell Invitational held across town at Puget Sound.
Caprye cleared a personal best five feet, three ¾ inches to win the event while
Madison Downey was runner-up in the pole vault (10' 10") and
Kyleigh Archer was runner-up in the triple jump (34' 11").
On the track,
Addisen Hering took third in the 100-meter hurdles in 15.60 seconds with
Soukhanya Waters netting a personal best time in the 100-meters, finishing fourth in 12.45.
Men's Track & Field: George Sonko was runner-up in the discus while
Hunter Kleindl was third in the pole vault to pace PLU at the Peyton-Shotwell Invitational.
Sonko placed second in the fiscus with a throw of 141' 4" and was fourth in the shot put with a mark of 43' 7". In the pole vault, Kleindl cleared an outdoor personal record 14' 3 ¼".
On the track,
Tyger Willingham was 10th in the 100-meters (11.34) with
Noah Friedrich finishing the 5,000-meters in 16:28.54.
Women's Lacrosse: The Lutes (2-6) took the weekend off after wrapping up non-conference play last Wednesday. Pacific Lutheran will open up its eight-game conference slate this weekend on the road against both Linfield University and Willamette.
PLU split its final two non-league games, outlasting Lawrence University 7-5 thanks to a fourth quarter scoring surge before falling 21-3 two days later against Kalamazoo College.
Taylee Alldredge and
Issabella Marchio lead the Lute scoring attack through the first eight games of the season, tying for the team lead in goals (nine) and points (11).
Women's Rowing: PLU has the weekend off before heading to the East Coast and Lake Quinsigamond in Massachusetts to battle some of the nation's best crews at the Barbara Grant Donahue Cup on April 11.
The Lutes last raced on March 21, battling boathouse rival Puget Sound for the Lamberth Cup. The PLU varsity eight boat was a half second back of the Loggers, charging down the 2,000-meter course at American Lake in 7:24.5 while the second varsity eight placed second in its race in 8:36.8.
