TACOMA, Wash. — Pacific Lutheran University men's basketball coach Chad Murray announced the addition of Ryan Sheehy as an assistant coach for the Lutes.

"We're excited to welcome Ryan to PLU. He's got great experience in all areas relevant to the growth and improvement of our student-athletes, and will really improve our coaching staff as we move into the new year," said Murray.

Sheehy joins the Lutes with coaching experience at both the high school and college levels. He spent the previous two seasons as the head coach at East High School in Madison, Wisconsin while also spending one year as the head coach at Pleasant Grove High School in California. 

Sheehy's collegiate experience includes coaching at Kilgore College in Texas, guiding the Rangers to a regular season conference championship, NJCAA Elite 8 appearance, and #2 national ranking with a 23-2 overall record. He also coached three seasons in California at De Anza College. 

"I'm beyond excited to join the staff here at PLU. Coach Murray has created a phenomenal program with an incredible culture that you can feel everywhere you go, and I cannot wait to get started," said Sheehy. 

Sheehy graduated with a degree in physical and health education from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh and holds a master's degree in coaching and athletic leadership from the University of Missouri. 

The Lutes open the 2026-2027 season at home on Nov. 6, hosting Division III newcomer Azusa Pacific University inside Olson Gymnasium.
