HILLSBORO, Ore. — For the second time this fall, Pacific Lutheran University libero
Macy Matsushima is the Northwest Conference Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week, securing the award on Monday afternoon for her efforts in a pair of Lute victories last week.
The junior libero racked up 32 digs last week, averaging 4.6 per set while also racking up four aces. Matsushima had a dozen digs in PLU's 3-1 home victory over University of Puget Sound to seize sole possession of first place in the NWC standings before netting 20 digs in a 3-0 road sweep of Willamette University on Saturday.Â
Matsushima was previously named NWC Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 8 while Lutes' have won NWC Offensive Player of the Week on three occasions, including
Julissa Pernsteiner on Sept. 8,
Alexis Eggert on Sept. 14, and
Ayre Takamoto on Sept. 21.

The Lutes (11-2, 4-0 NWC) remain on the road this weekend, squaring off against Linfield University on Friday night and facing Lewis & Clark College on Saturday afternoon.Â
