PARKLAND - Kirstyn Druzianich had 17 kills to lead the visiting Saint Martin's University Saints to a 25-15, 25-21, 25-27, 25-11 non-conference volleyball victory over the Pacific Lutheran University Lutes on Tuesday night in Olson Auditorium.
The win was the second of the season against 17 defeats for the NCAA Division II Saints, while the Divison III Lutes fell to 15-7 with the defeat.
Druzianich, who had a .368 attack percentage, helped pace a Saints offense that hit .219 for the match, including .306 in the first set, .263 in the second set and .409 in the final set. Teilissa Tua added 12 kills and also hit .480 in the match, while Katy Ferguson finished with 11 kills. Setter Kristeen Juarez had 40 assists, while Brianna Bautista finished with 25 digs and Malia Ibarra with 22 more.
PLU head coach Kevin Aoki elected to play his starting group only in the first set, and after that it was time for the second unit to see the action. PLU's starting setter, Sarah Beaver, ended up playing all four sets because second-string setter Anna Buck missed the match because of illness. Bethany Huston led the Lutes with eight kills and a .467, while Hannah Harrison and Haley Urdahl both had six kills. Beaver finished with 27 assists and Rose Mattson led the team with 14 digs, followed by Lauren Lefebvre with 12 and Urdahl with 10. Kelsey Pacolt had three block assists for PLU.
The Lutes return to conference action this weekend when they host Willamette on Friday and George Fox on Sturday, both matches starting at 7 p.m.
