TACOMA - Puget Sound scored a pair of goals in the second half to rally past Pacific Lutheran, 2-1, in the men's soccer season finale for both teams on Saturday at East Field.
The Lutes, who finished the season 10-8-1 overall and in third place in the Northwest Conference with a 9-5-0 record, took the lead in the 27th minute when Surafel Wodajo knocked in a rebound of Chad Kearns' shot off the crossbar. The goal was the sixth of the season for the junior midfielder.
The Loggers, who took 11 shots in the match to eight for PLU, tied the score in the 52nd minute on a goal by Terence Blackburn, with the assist going to Kyle Benson. The winning tally came in the 67th minute from Dylan Lomanto, who won a bouncing ball in the box before firing it into the net.
UPS goalkeeper Chris McDonald recorded two saves in recording the win, while Joe Rayburn had two saves in the defeat.
In addition to having the advantage in shots, the Loggers also had three corner kicks to two for the Lutes.
